MT Sapphires

Unique to Montana is also the large deposits of Montana sapphire found largely at Rock Creek (Gem Mountain) near Philipsburg, Montana. This area is rich with sapphires in a “rainbow” of colors. From colors in bluish green to pink, deep blue to orange and yellow, these gemstones offer their own special brilliance and appeal. While most of these sapphires are heat treated to enhance color, a small percentage are of gemstone quality without the required heat treatment.
